President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made modifications to his list of nominees for the South East Development Commission (SEDC) board: Dr. Emeka Nworgu is now the new chairman, taking the place of Hon. Emeka Atuma. In this updated list, all three previously nominated executive directors have been replaced; furthermore, two additional executive directors have been appointed.
The President has also dismissed Donatus Eyinnah Nwankpa from his role as a board member. Hon. Mark C. Okoye continues to serve as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, which now consists of a 16-member board—one more than what was initially proposed. Key changes include Stanley Ohajuruka assuming the role of Executive Director of Finance, thus replacing Anthony Ugbo.
Toby Okechukwu has been appointed as Executive Director of Projects, succeeding Obinna Obiekweihe, while Chief Sylvester Okonkwo now holds the position of Executive Director of Corporate Services, taking over from Dr. Daniel Ikechukwu Ugwuja. Additionally, Chidi Echeazu and Dr. Clifford Ogbede have been nominated as executive directors, although they do not have specific portfolios assigned.
The President has retained various board members (including Barr). Ugochukwu H. Agballah, Hon. Okey Ezenwa, Chief Hyacinth Ikpor, Barr. Ifeanyi Agwu, Nasiru Usman and Hamma Adama Ali Kumo are among those selected. Other nominees that were retained include Edward David Onoja, Orure Kufre Inima and Chief (Mrs.) Joke Adebayo-Chukwuma. However, this decision was made because it was deemed necessary for continuity. Although some may question the choices, they reflect a strategic approach to leadership.
