EFCC ARRESTS YAHAYA BELLO

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, due to allegations of fraud that involve approximately ₦80.2 billion. This arrest, confirmed by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, took place on November 25, 2024, in Abuja, with the aid of the current Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo.

Bello, who had managed to evade capture for several months, was detained following a court order that mandated his presence for arraignment on numerous charges, including money laundering and misappropriation of state funds. This arrest is regarded as a significant advancement in the investigation, which has, however, attracted considerable public and political scrutiny.
