ENUGU STATE'S NEW MINIMUM WAGE

Governor Peter Mbah's endorsement of a new minimum wage, set at ₦80,000 for civil servants in Enugu State, has garnered considerable approval—particularly from labor unions such as the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).

This decision underscores his administration's dedication to the welfare of workers; it seeks to fulfill campaign promises and tackle the economic difficulties that civil servants encounter.

The NLC, along with other union leaders, commended the governor for this timely wage adjustment, perceiving it as a vital measure to enhance living standards in light of rising costs of living.

However, the governor's proactive strategy has instilled optimism within the workforce, signaling a persistent commitment to worker-friendly policies. Although challenges remain, this wage increase is viewed as a significant step forward.
