Former Senator Shehu Sani of Kaduna Central has urged Northern politicians aspiring for the presidency in 2027 to support President Bola Tinubu's completion of two consecutive terms for the sake of national peace and stability.
Sani emphasized the tradition of prominent figures visiting former Presidents during Sallah celebrations, noting that some Northern political forces are rallying around former President Buhari to challenge Tinubu's government. He warned that such actions could destabilize the nation, especially since Tinubu received significant support from the North.
Sani pointed out that Buhari's eight-year tenure was unchallenged by Southern politicians and stressed the importance of prioritizing national unity over personal political ambitions. He cautioned that if Southern politicians were to unite against Northern interests, it could threaten Nigeria's stability.
Highlighting the North's missed opportunities during Buhari's administration, Sani urged Northern politicians to focus on policies that benefit the people rather than pursuing power for its own sake. He concluded that supporting Tinubu's administration until 2027 would give the North a stronger moral ground to seek power in the future.
