FG CONSIDERS AIRFARE PENALTIES

The FG is contemplating implementing penalties as international airlines persist in maintaining high ticket prices.

Last week in Abuja, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority convened with airline operators, the NCAA, international airlines, and the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies, instructing them to make discounted tickets available within a few weeks.

During the meeting, international airlines pledged to enhance transparency in airfare pricing by offering discounted tickets with restricted availability, aiming to cater to Nigeria's middle-income group.

Following the FG's stance, a portion of the $700 million reserved for air ticket funds for foreign airlines was released.
