ALAOJI POWER INSPECTION SUCCESS

Yesterday, I, Alex Otti toured the Alaoji Power Station alongside Chief Emeka Offor, Chairman of the Chrome Group. The station, managed by the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) under the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP), houses a 1,074MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) capacity. Additionally, the Chrome Consortium will augment its infrastructure with two General Electric (GE) Steam turbines, each capable of generating 286MW.

This project holds immense potential for our government's developmental goals and addressing energy needs in areas like Geometric Power outside the Integrated Power Project (IPP). Recognizing the current challenges, particularly in gas supply, I commend Chief Emeka Offor for his commitment and assurances in overcoming these hurdles. Soon, Umuahia and neighboring LGAs will reap the benefits.

To expedite progress, I've tasked the Mayor of Ugwunagbo L.G.A., Comrade Nosike Ihesiaba, to collaborate with the Commissioner for Works to improve road access to the site. This enhancement will facilitate the swift transportation of materials and equipment, crucial for the project's success.
