The Federal Government has suspended the evaluation and accreditation of degree certificates from Benin Republic and Togo.
The decision, announced on January 2 through a statement by Augustina Obilor-Duru on behalf of the Director Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, follows an investigative report by Daily Nigerian Newspaper.
The government cites concerns about Nigerians using dubious means to obtain degrees for job opportunities they are unqualified for.
The suspension remains in effect pending investigations involving the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education, as well as the Department of State Security Services (DSS) and the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC).
