On Friday, around 1,500 Central Bank of Nigeria staff members will commence work at the Lagos office after being redeployed from the headquarters.
This decision, driven by the new management, aims to enhance staff safety, boost productivity, and alleviate congestion at the main office.
The move aligns with the bank's restructuring plan to match functions and objectives, promote a more even geographical talent spread, and comply with building regulations.
Governor Yemi Cardoso plans to relocate departments such as Banking Supervision and Consumer Protection, despite opposition from certain groups.
The goal is to reduce the headquarters' occupancy from 4,233 to 2,733 personnel. Some affected staffers have already started moving to Lagos.
