VATICAN APPROVES SAME-SEX BLESSINGS

The Vatican has approved blessings for same-sex couples, specifying that these should not constitute a Catholic rite or be associated with civil unions or weddings.

The document, endorsed by Pope Francis, acknowledges the possibility of blessings for same-sex couples and those in irregular situations.

While emphasizing the Church's support for people seeking God's help through blessings, it maintains the traditional stance that marriage is solely between a man and a woman for procreation. The blessing should not coincide with civil union ceremonies and must avoid any elements resembling a wedding to prevent confusion or scandal.

The Vatican's faith department views this as a broadening of its stance in line with Pope Francis's pastoral vision for an inclusive Church.
