The EFCC detained contractor James Okwete in connection with the N37bn money laundering probe involving the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.
Simultaneously, three other former ministers, including Sadiya Umar-Farouk, are under investigation for an estimated N150bn graft.
Okwete, currently held at EFCC Headquarters, is cooperating with investigators and implicating Umar-Farouk and former directors-general.
There are indications of potential arrests for Umar-Farouk and others based on the disclosed financial misappropriation details.
