The Lamidi Apapa faction of the Labour Party has strongly advised Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the party, to seek an alternative political platform for pursuing his presidential ambitions in the 2027 elections.
They are firm in their stance that Peter Obi will not secure the LP ticket for 2027. The Apapa faction, whose legitimacy was recently confirmed by the Edo Division of the Court of Appeal, has already initiated the search for a new presidential candidate in preparation for the 2027 elections.
Spokesman Abayomi Arabambi made these statements in response to Peter Obi's appeal at the Supreme Court, challenging the verdict of the Presidential Election Petitions Court that upheld President Bola Tinubu's victory in the 2023 presidential election.
The Apapa-led faction of the LP has distanced itself from Obi's decision and that of the Julius Abure faction to contest Tinubu's victory in court.
Arabambi stated, "My advice to him (Obi) is to start preparing for the 2027 elections, but he should do so within a different political party, not the LP. We are determined not to tolerate such behaviour in 2027, and we will seek a new candidate. Obi is welcome to return to APGA to run, but not within the Labour Party. We do not want to continue accommodating an individual who appears to believe that he alone possesses the necessary qualifications.
He has not proven to be a capable manager of human resources, which is why he suffered a significant defeat."
He further questioned Peter Obi's accusations against President Bola Tinubu regarding certificate fraud, asking why Obi did not present his B.Sc. on his candidacy form and instead mentioned a school certificate. This has raised suspicions about the authenticity of Obi's qualifications, as Arabambi pointed out that he might be concealing his B.Sc. to avoid scrutiny.
