The delay in constituting and releasing the list has caused confusion, but President Tinubu's independent thinking and commitment to competence over political favour will serve as the solution.
It should be noted that the current situation is not entirely different from what occurred in previous administrations, such as those of Olusegun Obasanjo, Musa Yar'Adua, Goodluck Jonathan, and Muhammadu Buhari. Nigerians and politicians have always engaged in questionable actions to secure appointments.
One should not underestimate the potential for conflicting interests to overwhelm or confuse President Tinubu. While he prioritizes rewarding party loyalty, as seen during the previous administration under President Buhari, he is also bound by serious commitments to non-APC members.
These commitments hang over him like the sword of Damocles, creating a delicate situation regarding the appointments.
However, based on the appointments he has made thus far, there is no longer any doubt regarding President Tinubu's capacity and competence to navigate the storm and handle the competing forces in selecting capable individuals for his cabinet.
It is worth noting that these conflicts also present opportunities beyond ministerial positions, including board chairmen, members, and even ambassadorial positions. Therefore, those who were not included in the ministerial list still have ample chances to be included in other lists.
