Nigerian Army restructures high-ranking officials, names new PSOs, GOCs, and others
With the aim of reorganizing the Nigerian Army (NA) for improved operational efficiency and effective administration, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has approved the reassignment and appointment of several senior officers within the Nigerian Army (NA) to various command, instructional, and staff positions across NA formations and units.
Among those affected by the recent redeployment are Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) of the Army Headquarters (AHQ), General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, Commandants of training institutions, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, and others.
Several senior officers have been appointed as PSOs at the AHQ. Major General AB Ibrahim has been posted from Headquarters 3 Division NA to the Department of Policy and Plans (DAPP) and appointed as the Chief of Policy and Plans (Army). Major General BR Sinjen has been transferred from the Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery (NACA) to the Department of Army Operations (DAOPs) and appointed as the Chief of Operations (Army). Major General OR Aiyenigba has been reassigned from the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police to the Department of Army Standards and Evaluation and appointed as the Chief of Army Standards and Evaluation (Army). Other appointments include Major General NC Ugbo, who has been transferred from the Nigerian Army Signals School to the Department of Civil Military Affairs and appointed as the Chief of Civil Military Affairs, and Major General E Akerejola, who moves from Headquarters Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport to the Army Headquarters Department of Logistics as the Chief of Logistics (Army).
In terms of General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Major General BA Alabi has been reassigned from the Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) to Headquarters 1 Division as the GOC. Major General AE Abubakar has been moved from Headquarters 7 Division to 3 Division as the GOC of 3 Division/Commander Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), and Major General PP Mala has been posted from Depot Nigerian Army to Headquarters 7 Division as the GOC/Commander Sector 1 Joint Task North East (NE) Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK).
Other appointments include Major General GU Chibuisi, who has been transferred from HQ Multinational Joint Task Force Ndjamena (MNJTF) to the Theatre Command Joint Task Force NE Operation (OPHK) and appointed as the Theatre Commander, and Major General IS Ali, who has been redeployed from the Theatre Command Joint Task Force NE OPHK to HQ MNJTF as the Force Commander. Major General EAP Undiandeye's redeployment from Martin Luther Agwai International Peacekeeping Centre to the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) as the Chief of Defence Intelligence has also been confirmed.
Additionally, several senior officers have been appointed as Corps Commanders. Major General OO Oluyede has been named the Commander Infantry Corps, Major General MG Kangye has been transferred from the Department of Civil Military Affairs (DCMA) to Headquarters Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery and appointed as the Commander. Major General AA Adeyinka has been reassigned from the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM) to Headquarters Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport and appointed as the Commander.
Furthermore, other senior officers affected by the redeployment include Major General KO Aligbe, who has been appointed as the Commander Training and Doctrine Command, Major General JO Ochai, who moves from Defence Headquarters to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) and appointed as the Commandant, and Major General IB Main
