Dear Igbo Nation,
Today, on May 30, 2023, we solemnly commemorate the memory of our fallen heroes. It has been 53 years since we tragically lost over 3 million Igbo brothers and sisters during the Nigerian-Biafran civil war. They courageously fought and made the ultimate sacrifice for our survival and prosperity. The Nigerian-Biafran war claimed the lives of more than 3.5 million Ndi Igbo, and it is believed that nearly every Igbo household lost a loved one in the conflict.
We honor the lives of our fathers and mothers who were taken from us prematurely, whether in childhood, adolescence, adulthood, or old age. May they find eternal rest. Though we yearn for justice on their behalf, for now, let us find solace in the embrace of our beloved ancestors. You will forever remain our heroes.
It is unfortunate that the resilience and success of the Igbo people following the atrocities, brutality, and meager compensations have stirred animosity towards us. Nevertheless, we have emerged stronger, becoming the wealthiest and most accomplished community in our nation. It is a testament to the blessings bestowed upon Igbo land, which flows with abundance like milk and honey.
May our people thrive and endure for generations to come.
Long live my people,...
