Five other people were also killed in Enugu in addition to the senatorial candidate for the Labour party.
Mr. Oyibo Chukwu, the Labour Party's senatorial candidate for the Enugu East Senatorial District, was murdered and set ablaze by unidentified gunmen.
Additionally, the gunmen killed five of his supporters who were in his car.
It was learned that the incident occurred on Wednesday night in Amechi Awkunanaw, Enugu South Local Government Area.
Chijioke Edeoga, the Labour Party's candidate for governor, confirmed the tragic incident and claimed that the gunmen shot him and five other people inside of his car before setting the car on fire.
“Our party members are being targeted for assassination by political parties that felt threatened by the rise of the Labour Party in the state and are afraid they may lose the Saturday’s election.”
Recall that the Labour Party's political campaigns and endeavors had previously come under attached on several occasions.
