ANAMBRA GOVERNMENT CHANGES OFFICIAL SCHOOL DAYS

The government of Anambra has changed its official school days.

The state's official school days have been moved from Mondays through Fridays to Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Although no reason for the change was given, News Express reports that it could be linked to the disruption of educational and other activities in the South East as a result of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra's (IPOB) sit-at-home order announced on Monday to press home the demand for the unconditional release of its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Despite the fact that IPOB has suspended the sit-at-home order, it is nonetheless being enforced by unidentified gunmen suspected of sympathizing with the separatist group.

Saturday classes will begin in Anambra on October 30, 2021.

"I am directed by the Executive Secretary to advise you that the Anambra State Government has authorized Saturdays as school days in place of Mondays," read a statement from the Anambra State Universal Education Board delivered to all the Head Masters of primary schools in the state. Teachers, students, and parents must all be informed of the new development by all HMs. Quality Assurance inspections, as well as all other inspections, will now take place on Saturdays. Every request for permission to miss courses on Saturdays must be sent to ASUBBEB, the Executive Chairman.
