NED NWOKO SACKS AS PDP SENATOR-ELECT

Ned Nwoko was nullified as PDP Senator-elect to represent Delta North Senatorial District on Thursday in the Court of Appeal Abuja. 

The High Court stated that the result to recognized Ned as the winner of the election as was declared by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was filed wrongly. 

The Court said case should have been presented at the lower court before 14 days expiration from the time of the incidence. That the failure of the lower court to file the matter before 14 days expiration means that the court lacked jurisdiction to handle the case in the first place. 

"As at the time the matter was instituted at the Federal High Court, the case was statute barred. We set aside the decision of the Federal High Court and strike out the case," court ruled. 

INEC withdrew the certificate of return gave to Ned Nwoko and issued to Mr Nwaoboshi. 

Both are of the PDP and had contested for the ticket of the party in the primaries and during election PDP won the Senatorial election in the district with Nwaoboshi as the candidate.
